summer BLOWOUT

Saturday July 17 2010, 6pm - Midnight

BLANKO + NOIRY

ROSE KALLAL with MARK BEASLEY

In conjunction with the exhibition GREEN HONEY, Ramiken Crucible presents an evening of art featuring performances by Blanko + Noiry and Rose Kallal with Mark Beasley. Please join us Saturday, July 17th from 6pm-midnight, on East Broadway at Clinton. Music will start at 9pm.

GREEN HONEY, an exhibition organized by Andrea Cashman and Borden Capalino, features new works by Anna Betbeze, Lucas Blalock, Borden Capalino, Tony Cox, Christian de Vietri, Frank Haines, Joanna Malinowska, Gilad Ratman, Peter Simensky, and Ruby Sky Stiler. Updating primal symbols and practices with a conceptual approach to new materials and mediums, these works conjure neoteric meanings tied to our contemporary consciousness. Traversing notions of art, folk, and spiritual object, the works in Green Honey situate themselves in a deliberately ambiguous space. Doing so, they disrupt the hegemonic order that would otherwise constrain their meaning. Toeing the line between sacred and profane, material and immaterial, the interdisciplinary works in Green Honey are best understood as contemporary artifacts.

Green Honey is on view at Ramiken Crucible through August 15, 2010 (Wed - Sun, 12 - 6pm)
